# Terms of Use

> The terms that govern your use of Lore, the iPhone app that replaces doomscrolling with short true stories — subscriptions, content sources and licensing, and what Lore does and doesn't promise.

Lore is an iPhone app that replaces doomscrolling with short, true stories, made by 9M Studios, Inc. (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By using it, you agree to these terms.

## 1. What Lore is

Lore is a feed of short, true stories about people, history, science, and places, delivered a few cards at a time. It is meant to be opened in the moments you would otherwise spend on an endless social feed.

## 2. What Lore is not

Lore is something better to scroll. It is not a medical device, not therapy, and not a treatment for addiction, and nothing in the app is medical, psychological, or professional advice. If your phone use is seriously affecting your sleep, work, or relationships, please speak to a qualified professional.

It is also not a blocker: Lore does not restrict, monitor, or report on your use of any other app. We make no promise about how much time you will spend on your phone, or about what you will remember from what you read.

## 3. Subscriptions and billing

- Lore is free to download; an auto-renewing subscription unlocks the full feed.
- Current prices and terms are shown in the app before you confirm. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period ending.
- You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID settings after purchase. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Any free trial ends when a subscription is purchased, and unused trial time is forfeited at that point.
- Purchases are made through the App Store, so refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies.

## 4. Your account

You need an account to use Lore, and you must be at least 13 years old to have one. Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you are responsible for activity under your account. You can delete it from within the app at any time.

## 5. Content and licensing

Story cards are adapted from Wikipedia articles, and each one links back to the article it came from. Wikipedia text is available under the [Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/) licence, and adapted text in Lore is made available under the same terms. Images remain under the licences given on their source pages.

Wikipedia is written by volunteers and can contain errors or omissions. Lore is for general interest, and you should check anything that matters against the source.

## 6. Acceptable use

Don’t interfere with the app’s normal operation or security, attempt to bypass the subscription, scrape or bulk-export content, or use Lore to break the law.

## 7. Intellectual property

The Lore name, design, software, and original text belong to 9M Studios, Inc. and its licensors. Third-party content keeps its own licence, as described above.

## 8. Termination

We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms. You can stop using Lore, and delete your account, whenever you like.

## 9. Disclaimer and liability

The app is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Nothing here limits rights you have under the consumer law where you live.

## 10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app changes. The date at the top reflects the current version, and continuing to use Lore after a change means you accept it.

## 11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state of your residence, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
